GlideSpace

A warning before you meet airspace, in distance or in height.

Unfamiliar airspace ahead, and the panel is showing something else. GlideSpace warns you before you reach it — a banner, a vibration and a tone as you close on a control zone, a restricted or a danger area, laterally or in height.

Your position comes from GPS and your altitude from the watch's barometer, so the margin to a floor or a ceiling is real pressure altitude rather than a lagging GPS figure. Flight levels are compared on the standard 1013 datum and MSL limits against your QNH, exactly as the airspace is published. The screen shows the nearest airspace, its type, your distance from it and, where the file publishes one, the frequency to call. One button mutes a warning you already know about, for five minutes or the rest of the day. Set QNH by hand, to standard, or by calibrating to a field elevation, and set your own warning distances.

You load your own airspace with the free uploader — a Naviter .cub file or an OpenAir file — so nothing is built in to go stale and it works in any country; the uploader shows how much your watch model holds before you sync, and after that the app runs offline. A recreational aid, not a means of airspace clearance: it shows only the airspace you loaded, above-ground limits are approximate, and it does not replace current charts, a briefing, or your own lookout. Install it free from the Connect IQ Store and fly it for 14 days before you decide; buying ties the licence to your watch in one online step. No account, no subscription.
